The Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association (IOFGA) held a farm walk and meeting near Clonmel in Co Tipperary yesterday (Tuesday).
The walk was held on the farm of Pat Mulrooney near Kilsheelan. Pat is milking 85 cows all year round through a milking robot. About 40 persons attended the farm walk in the morning. Almost 60 people attended the organic lunch and conference in the afternoon.
While in attendance at the conference, the Glenisk boss was unable to speak as scheduled due to illness. John Liston, Organic dairy farmer spoke about the practicalities of organic dairy production. Conor Mulhall, General Manager of the Little Milk Company described what the 10 suppliers of this organic dairy co-op do.

Kevin McGeever, Department of Agriculture spoke about grant aid and support available to organic producers. The last speaker Mary Lynch described the importance of clover for organic dairy systems.
