Waterford man Paddy Lee, well-known as the manufacturer of high trailers since the early 1960s (in particular silage trailers), will officially open the Coolmoyne and Moyglass Vintage Club Silage Extravaganza event, which takes place on Sunday, 26 July in Moyglass, Fethard, Co Tipperary.

The challenge on the day is to record the biggest number of Lee trailers in one place at the same time. The organisers told the Irish Farmers Journal that all pre-1990 silage trailers of any make are very welcome to take part in the event.

There will also be a record challenge for the biggest number of working double-chop harvesters in the same field.

All silage harvesters, including single, precision and self-propelled harvesters, are welcome to participate in the event.

The challenge for Lee trailers and double-chop harvesters is only part of what promises to be the biggest event of its kind in Ireland in 2015, according to Pat O’Loughnan (086-8535759) from the local organising team.

Pat said that the entries have been confirmed from all corners of Ireland. He said that Mark Osbourne, the new owner of the County tractor company, and Malcolm Burgess are travelling from England for the event. So if you have a vintage harvester, tractor, trailer or any other rare machine, you should take part in this monster event.

Pat added that there will be huge emphasis on safety at the event as all entrants are required to ensure that PTO covers, chain guards, belt covers, etc, are properly fitted before the silage harvesting begins.
