Teagasc is recruiting a college teacher in agricultural mechanisation in Ballyhaise College. The previous mechanisation teacher was Jim Nevin, who retired last year. Jim studied agricultural engineering in the agricultural college in Ayr, Scotland, started teaching in Ballyhaise in 1978 and over many years taught both machinery and health and safety to hundreds of students.
Jacob’s 45-year Zetor connection
Jacob’s Service Station of Kilglass, Enniscrone, Co Sligo, is celebrating 45 years as a Zetor main dealer.

Founded in 1967, the company became agents for the Czech-made tractors in 1970. Jacob’s managing director Michael C Jacob said: “As a company which is proud of our long association with Zetor, we welcome farmers to come and see the new Forterra 150HD and experience first-hand the latest fully rounded, competitively packaged product offering from Zetor.”
Last week, the Zetor road show tour visited the Silgo branch where customers got a chance to drive the latest models from Zetor and celebrate 45 years of Zetor business in the area with the Jacob family.
