IFA flood project chair Tom Turley and the three IFA presidential candidates Henry Burns, Joe Healy and Flor McCarthy are all calling for a single authority to manage Irish waterways.
"Seventeen local authorities have a say on the Shannon but none have responsibilty when it comes to your houses, your businesses, your farms being flooded, and your livelihoods being washed away," Turley told the crowd at the flooding rally on Saturday.
The farm income is decimated. I've taken on other work outside of the farm to try and survive.

Flooded farmers spoke about their despair, and the devastating effect it was having on their lives.
One farmer told the Irish Farmers Journal he had to take up work outside the farm to survive.
"The farm income is decimated. I've taken on other work outside of the farm to try and survive," he said.
