With over 400 voters, 63% said they thought that Trump’s reign would affect Irish agriculture, while 37% disagreed.

There are concerns over what kind of impact the president-elect will have on agriculture.

Trump has been critical about free trade, with many members of his support base distrustful of globalisation. Under his tenure, it is likely that protectionism will rise, leading to the end of future trade agreements and the death of TTIP. This could pose difficulties for Irish agri-food exports such as beef and dairy.
