It’s understood that a 35-acre parcel of land at Curraclough, Lissarda, Macroom, Co Cork, has been sold.

Less than two months on the market, the property was originally released to the market in late July by private treaty through selling agent Killian Lynch, Macroom.

Over the past number of weeks, the property generated a mix of interest from farmers and city-based professionals who were keen to build a house and set up a hobby farm. Opening offers started at €350,000 and a after a flurry of interest, Killian brought it all to a head and invited final offers in early September. It’s understood that a local farmer secured the property in recent weeks for a figure in excess of the €450,000 asking price or around €13,000/acre.

Unspoilt, the land at Curraclough is laid out in 11 fields and paddocks, and although field sizes are small, they are superbly enclosed by mature trees and hedges.

Let out for grazing for a long number of years, the land is currently in grass and ranges from flat to a gentle south facing elevation.

Carefully farmed, all the land has been reseeded over the years and is well fenced. It comes with what is locally known as Curraclough House (in need of restoration) and a range of outbuildings which are approached by an attractive tree-lined avenue.
