The good jumping mare Ado Annie, who was sold to the US, bred a filly by flexible this year and it is the owners intentions that she will compete and breed in Ireland, writes Michael Slavin.

When Paul Larkin of Larkin International sold the good jumping mare Ado Annie, by Errigal Flight out of a Blue Henry dam, to the US, he did it on the basis that if she bred a filly he would buy her and bring her back to Ireland. Three years ago Ado Annie did indeed have a filly foal by none other than the Irish Sport Horse stallion Flexible. And on St Patrick’s Day just gone by, Paul was as good as his word and bought the filly. With Ado Annie having so much Irish Draught blood through Errigal Flight and Blue Henry, while Flexible is by Cruising out of a mare by the thoroughbred Safari, this filly certainly has to qualify as Traditional Irish. Should she be sold, the Larkins express the hope that she will be kept in Ireland to compete and breed here. This is the kind of bloodline the Traditional Irish Horse Breeders group have been saying should be promoted. So, it is a good news story that this daughter to two of our good World Cup performers is coming home.
