Value for money is what is on everybody’s mind when it comes to buying any sort of a property. And despite rising house prices in some of the main urban centres of the country, there is still value to be had for a nice house in the country with some land attached.

These types of properties were highly sought after during the boom, many of which commanded a premium driven mainly by hobby farmers and business people.

In many incidences back then, the house was either derelict or in need of extensive refurbishment. Today, you can get a lot more bang for your buck in terms of a better quality house and possibly a few more acres of land for a lot less money.

Michael Dorgan, Mitchelstown, is handling the sale of three residential country holdings in the Limerick/Tipperary region, all of which come with more than 10 acres and, more importantly, all three are guided at €350,000 or less.

Beautifully restored near Mitchelstown

Just five minutes’ drive from Mitchelstown is a 16-acre residential holding situated at Glenacurrane, Anglesboro, Co Limerick. This property was part of a much larger holding – about 70 acres – which was bought by two neighbouring farmers last year. The house on 16 acres of mature woodland is what remains.

The house is a beautifully restored two-bedroom farmhouse that features a living room with oak beams, timber fireplace and Stanley stove, kitchen with a Belfast sink, shower room, hotpress and two bedrooms.

The attic is floored, which may offer potential for further accommodation.

Outside there are a range of stone outbuildings and some sheds. Nestled on circa 15 acres of mature woodland and 1.5 acres of grassland, the property is approached by a wooded entrance and is bounded on one side by a river. Offers in excess of €350,000 are invited. CL
