Two decades after he emerged on the Irish country scene, Dolphin Music has just released a new double album featuring the hits, as well as more recent songs, from Robert Mizzell’s 20-year career in country music.

Pure Country – The Essential Collection is a two-CD set and followers will be pleased to know that such favourites as Say You Love Me, Who’s Gonna Dance with Sally Ann, Louisiana Saturday Night and One More Last Chance are included. So too is Robert’s recent radio hit, You Ain’t Dolly, a duet with Gráinne Gavigan.

Robert also collaborates on songs with Jimmy Buckley, Lisa McHugh, Lorraine McDonald, The Three Amigos and presents a very special recording of Walk the Line – Revisited with his father. The album is already picking up major sales countrywide.

A DVD recorded live in the Dunamaise Theatre in Portlaoise is also on release.

“We had a good time recording the show in Portlaoise. What people will see on this video is a complete live show through and through. We’re very proud of that. The Country Kings are excellent musicians and I am so lucky to have such a great band,” says Robert.

The members of The Country Kings are Martin Cleary, Pat Kelly, Wayne Thorose, Tony Fitzgibbon and Dermot Ring.

They are recognised as one of the very top country bands on the circuit for some time.

Robert was voted Ireland’s favourite country singer in a poll by RSVP magazine earlier this year. He maintains a hectic schedule and performs with The Country Kings at shows all over Ireland and Britain.

He has also led a number of country music tours to America, taking in visits to Louisiana, Tennessee and other states, and plans to return on another tour in 2016.

Apart from his dance dates and Christmas party nights, Robert and The Country Kings are performing a number of concert shows in the coming weeks, including the Ardowen Theatre in Enniskillen on Tuesday, 30 December, and the Lagan Valley Island Theatre in Lisburn on Friday, 2 January. Their guest performer is Gráinne Gavigan.

Robert, together with Sean Slattery of The Connections, will lead a major trip to the Santa Susanna on the Costa Brava, Spain, from the 6-13 May 2015. Joining them are Johnny Brady, Gerry Guthrie, Gráinne Gavigan, Limelight, The Logues, Marc Roberts, Big O and Kieran McAree. Sharon has all the details on 00353-749-119955.
