Commenting on the sale, manager Maurice Brosnan said: “Quality stock maintained their prices and were a fair trade, while the price for plainer stock eased back a bit.

“However, there was a 100% clearance and both buyers and sellers seemed happy with the sale.”

There were 180 lots of bulls for sale. Prices varied on weight and grade potential, with most continental cross cattle selling from €2.20/kg upwards for bigger bulls, although they were in very short supply, with many of the autumn-born weanlings having been sold already. Bulls from 250kg to 300kg were really in demand, making from €2.60/kg up to €2.90/kg.

  • There were about 80 heifer weanling on offer. Trade was similar to the bulls, with lighter heifers more in demand and R and U grade heifers commanding a premium.
