All-Ireland ladies sheep shearing champion Colette Deegan is supporting the Cycle Against Suicide, which starts in Belfast on Monday 27 April and takes in 14 stages around Ireland before finishing on Sunday 10 May with the final stage, from Mullingar to Dublin. Colette, who farms near Shillelagh, Co Wicklow, says the Cycle Against Suicide message that “It’s OK not to feel OK and it’s absolutely OK to ask for help” can save lives and is especially relevant to the farming community. Colette has close links with Cycle Against Suicide in the north Wexford area and wants to highlight the importance for farmers to seek help if depressed or having suicidal thoughts. Colette said: “Farming can be lonely at times. We spend a lot of time alone, but help is a phone call away.” For more information, log on to www.cycleagainstsuicide.com
