Sizeable blocks of land don’t tend to arrive on the market in the Rathdrum area, which should make the forthcoming sale of a 77-acre non-residential farm at Ballinacarrig, Rathdrum, a very interesting proposition for locals in the area.

To make it even more conducive for them, the property will be offered in its entire or in three separate lots ranging from 15 acres to 34 acres, which should help the purchasing ability of those who are eager to add to their existing holding.

Used to accommodate a dairy and sheep enterprise down through the years, the Ballinacarrig farm is set out in a single irregular-shaped block but has the benefit of three different access points to the land. Currently in grass, the majority of the land is described as “good, free-draining ground” with the exception of circa five acres that would benefit from some drainage work.

Located less than a mile from Rathdrum on the main Avoca/Rathdrum road, the farm will be offered in its entire or in three separate lots that include circa 15 acres; circa 34 acres and circa 28 acres.

Two of the lots (15 acres and 28 acres) have independent road frontage while the 34 acres is accessed from a lane.

A guide in the region of €8,000 to €9,000/acre is quoted.

The auction takes place on Friday 9 June at 3pm in the Carnew auction room of selling agent David Quinn, Carnew and Gorey.
