Receivership sale takes in €7.23m

A receivership sale handled by Ganly Walters Auctioneers made €7.23m at public auction last Saturday. The sale, which comprised of nine lots in various parts of the country, was a mixture of quarries and land.

Lot one, a circa 102-acre quarry and lands at Balleese Wood in Rathdrum, Co Wicklow, was sold for €2,300,000 or €22,500/acre, just above the guide price. Lot two, a circa 94-acre plot of quarries and land at Fenniscourt, Bagenalstown, Co Carlow, sold for €1.35 million. This lot contains a gravel pit and adjoining lands currently in tillage. The third lot was withdrawn at €235,000 and sold for a higher price after auction. This was a circa 18-acre plot near Cloonascragh, Tuam, Co Galway. Lot four is a 41.5-acre holding at Roscat, Tullow, Co Carlow. Containing sand and gravel pits and adjoining lands, the lot cracked under the hammer at €390,000.

Lot five, six and eight all made €220,000 respectively. Lot five is 31 acres at Ardristan, Tullow Co Carlow, lot six contains 108 acres at Clogrenan, Rossmore, and lot eight was a dormant quarry on eight acres at Kilkieran, Co Kilkenny. A concrete plant and depot in Kilpeddar, Co Wicklow, made up lot number seven and this particular holding made a whopping €2,100,000. The final lot in Powerstown made €190,000. In total, the lands made in excess of €7,225,000. The auction was said to be well attended, with good interest in each lot.
