Remembering Gerry Singer

News of the sudden death of Gerry Gallagher from Ballyshannon was received with deep shock. He was a regular performer on the music circuit throughout Donegal, Sligo and Mayo. Better known in recent years by his stage name, Gerry Singer took ill and died on a night out in his home county. He was an energetic performer, rendering the songs of Elvis Presley, Joe Dolan, country standards and rock ’n’ roll classics with great vitality. He loved to get an audience into the swing of the evening and he celebrated the joys of living in every show.

Gerry, also referred to affectionately by friends as The Duke, had a diary full of bookings for the year ahead and it is hard to believe that he has died. His death has seen a light go out on the regional circuit along the west and north west. We extend condolences to his family circle at this sad time.
