When Robert Mizzell first put foot on Irish ground, he could scarcely have imagined that one day he would be among the best-known country entertainers in the country.

The man from Louisiana began to make his mark during the 1990s and today he is one of the most recognisable artists on the circuit.

Fiercely proud of his Louisiana roots, Robert continues to include Cajun influences in his music. Over the years he has recorded some fine albums and is never afraid to take on new challenges in his search for musical fulfillment.

In five weeks time, Robert will embark on the Boogie on the Brava, a joint promotion with Sean Slattery from Galway. The group will be based in the Indalo Park Hotel, Santa Susanna, on the Costa Brava in Spain. Both singers will be accompanied by their respective band, The Country Kings and The Connections.

“It runs from 6 May to the 13 May and we can assure all who are travelling with us of a lovely time in Santa Susanna,” says Robert. “We are delighted to have some fine entertainers on board for this trip. Gerry Guthrie, Johnny Brady, Gráinne Gavigan, Big O, Limelite, Marc Roberts, Kieran McAree and The Logues from Castlederg are all part of our show.

“We are still taking bookings and anyone who would like to find out more can contact Sharon at Country Music Tours on 074-9119955 or 00353-87-3410550.”

Next year will see Robert head back to Nashville where he will lead a group from Ireland. He has already fronted some ventures to Nashville in recent years but opted for Spain this year.

“I am already planning ahead for 2016 and expressions of interest are already coming in. Country Music Tours are also handling that trip, so any early enquiries can be directed their way.”

TG4 will screen Robert’s first live video, recorded in the Dunamase Theatre in Portlaoise last year, in the coming months.

“I really enjoyed the show in Portlaoise and it is good news that TG4 will show it in full before the end of the month.

“My new single, Day Job, is out this week. It’s an American song, a lively uptempo number and I’m hoping it will be well received on the country radio shows.”

A new album is planned with Dolphin Records later in the year. “This is a new project and I am excited about it. There will be a few surprises in there and I have also penned one of the songs.”

Robert and The Country Kings maintain a busy schedule on the dance circuit and also have a weekend coming up in the McWilliam Park Hotel in Claremorris on 12 June.

Meanwhile, Robert and his wife Adele are still celebrating the birth of their baby daughter Maisie nine weeks ago.

“She is beautiful and her arrival has certainly brought about life changes in the home. But we are managing to blend our activities in such a way that Maisie is very much at the heart of what we do. Her arrival has brought a whole new focus into my life,” says Robert.
