The Shorthorn society will be displaying the best of their beef and dairy genetics at this year's stand.

Located in Block 1, Row 19, Stand 432 this year, the Irish Shorthorn Society will have a focus on High Replacement Index animals for the suckler beef herd. The stand will have a selection of high-index pedigree animals from the show circuit on display and also a selection of five-star commercial crossed replacement heifers suitable for the suckler herd.
On the milking side of the house, there will be a focus on having a selection of high-yielding milking Shorthorn cows. Also there will be copies of the society’s latest Milking Journal available.
The stand will also boast information on the newly launched Shorthorn Beef Scheme, which is being run in conjunction with ABP. Representatives from the Shorthorn Marketing Company will be available to chat to anyone interested in joining the new scheme along with council members from the Shorthorn Society who will be on the stand each day to have a chat and answer all queries.

A number of initiatives will be run over the three days including a special offer at the event for people who wish to join the society, a beef shorthorn semen project for 2017 and of course the annual raffle heifer competition.
Looking to the autumn, and sales are not far away from kicking off ,with Ennis on 8 October, Castlerea Mart on 22 October, Blessington Mart on 29 October and the Society Premier Sale in Roscommon Mart on 12 November .
