Simmental (Picture one)

The 5-year-old Simmental cow ‘Cruithill Britney’ emerged as Supreme Breed Champion in a very keenly contested Simmental section. This senior cow, exhibited by Gordan & Susan Salter, Mohona, Dunmanway, Co Cork and sired by ‘Curaheen Wakeman’ was shown with her Spring born heifer calf at foot.

Charolais (Picture two)

In the Charolais section, Jerry & Kathleen O’Keefe, Woodlawn, Grange, Knocklong, Co Limerick took top honours with their senior uncalved heifer ‘Grangewood Jody’. This quality heifer attracted much interest ringside and ensured the long trip from Co Limerick was worthwhile for the O’ Keefe duo.

Aberdeen Angus (Picture three)

The renowned senior stock sire ‘Wedderlie Black Box J935’ continued his show ring dominance in the Aberdeen Angus section for owner Albert DeCogan, Killamuckey, Castlemartyr, Co Cork.

This 5-year-old bull, imported from Scotland as a yearling, has taken supreme championship honours at several summer shows this season.

Hereford (Picture four)

The Supreme Champion in the Hereford ring was awarded to ‘Knockmountagh Duke’ for owner Tom Roycroft, West Green, Dunmanway, Co Cork. This was the latest title success for the Roycroft Family after also securing the championship rosette at Skibbereen Show with this bull last week.

Holstein Friesian (Picture five)

The Holstein Friesian section attracted a large number of exhibitors with several special championship classes held on the day. The Pat Denn All Ireland Junior Champion was won by Pat Smith, Cahirmee Hse, Doneraile, Co Cork with the senior yearling heifer ‘Cahirmee Dempsey Perfection’.

No stranger to success, this heifer had previously won this exact title one year ago at last year’s show as a young calf.

Overall Holstein Championship (Picture six)

The Overall Holstein Championship went to Kathleen & Sean Kelly, Burncourt, Cahir, Co Tipperary with ‘Coolrue Windfall Denise 2 EX90’ a third calved cow sired by ‘Gilette Windfall’ who also won the Glanbia Senior Super Cow in milk class earlier in the show.
