McHale, a family run business which focuses on the creation of high output balers and bale wrappers for the production of baled silage, haylage, hay and straw, is currently advertising for six opportunities in Ireland, including a software engineer, a design engineer and a technical writer.

The company is based in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo and McHale products can be seen working in 48 countries.

The job opportunities currently being advertised are as follows:

Electronic engineer for which job duties include:

  • Participating in the design/ building/ testing of electronic control systems and wiring harnesses on agricultural machinery.
  • Lab testing and debugging of electronics and machine application software.
  • In-field testing of electronics/software on agricultural machines during the summer months.
  • Software engineer for which job duties include:

  • Design, develop and test embedded software in C.
  • Modify and extend existing embedded system software to add new functionality.
  • Liaise with customers and/or service personnel to troubleshoot and resolve software problems.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to resolve design/debugging issues.
  • Product safety engineer for which job duties include:

  • Preparation and Maintenance of Technical Construction Files
  • Preparation of Risk Assessments
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant EU legislation
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant national road worthiness regulations
  • Review of existing designs and assistance with new designs within the remit of standards based compliance.
  • Technical manual publisher/ Technical writer for which job duties include:

  • Compiling and updating technical publications on a continuous basis
  • Building on the existing template library
  • Co-ordinating and manage the translation +review process
  • Research and development engineer - electrical for which job duties include:

  • Designing and testing of electronic and mechanical systems for agricultural machinery
  • Design engineer for which job duties include:

  • Developing, testing and getting machines ready for production
