Sixt Leasing Ireland has introduced a new car use solution for those who need a flexible and premium way of transportation. This service, which has been successfully implemented in German cities such as Berlin or Munich, promotes smarter and more efficient car fleets, now for Irish businesses.

Called Sixt Corporate CarSharing, it provides companies with a central control system to allocate vehicles based on the needs of their business. Through a fleet management service, an employee can register and use various models, included electric ones, for work-related day trips, direct travel between business locations or for private use.

Sixt claims that the system gives up to 30% savings in fleet costs, as well as an independent, flexible pick up and drops 24/7 in numerous car stations. They also claim that with the system the number of cars in companies can be reduced, therefore decreasing CO2 emissions. Companies get to choose the cars, which are exclusive for their use.

This is how it works. Once an employee is registered they will receive an RFID chip card.

Drivers book and schedule the use of a car like they would with a meeting room. The cars are opened with employees' RFID chip cards.

The black box in the car communicates with the central management system and tracks the situation of the car, and scheduled bookings, providing a total management of the car usage. The stations are created depending on company’s needs.
