The new production will feature a number of shows, each of which will feature three families from across the nations who will showcase their farming skills and knowledge by taking part in a variety of challenges at the Country Fair.

The challenges will demonstrate what it takes to run a proper family farm on a daily basis and the effort made to care for the landscape and feed a nation. At the end of each show, one family will take home the winning title and prize and become one of the UK and Ireland’s Best Farming families.

Non Griffith of Cwmni Da production company, the Country Fair Series Producer, said that the company wants to hear from "farmers who love the land and despite the highs and lows of the industry, would never dream of doing anything else for a living."

It also wishes to hear from first time farmers as well as families who’ve been farming for generations.

"What’s important for us is that they’re passionate about what they do, want to celebrate their skills and have fun along the way."

The first show will be about sheep, so shepherds and sheep farmers from the uplands and the lowlands, those with hill farms or small holdings, are all being urged to get in touch. The tasks may require as many as four people which could include family members, friends or neighbours.
