Some 58 courses have been created on the Green Low-carbon Agri-environment Scheme (GLAS) online training system, according to the Department of Agriculture.
Of this number, three training courses have been completed. Farmers and advisors have until 31 December to complete their training courses, which are a requirement under the scheme.
Each training course is six hours long and will provide an introduction to GLAS, the regulations and objectives of the scheme and the funding available.

There are over 36,000 farmers in GLAS I and II who need to have the course completed by 31 December in order to comply with the scheme and receive full payment.
The 14,000 GLAS III farmers will have a longer period in which to complete the course.
Once completion of the course with an approved GLAS trainer is verified by the Department of Agriculture, farmers will be paid €158 each.
