Despite many parts of the country currently waterlogged, the period for farmers, in certain counties, to recommence chemical and organic fertiliser spreading opens again next week.

For counties in Zone A (Dublin, Wicklow, Wexford, Kilkenny, Carlow, Cork, Tipperary, Waterford, Laois, Offaly and Kildare), the closed period runs until 12 January meaning that farmers can spread again from 13 January. For counties in Zone B (Longford, Westmeath, Meath, Louth, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway, Limerick, Clare, Kerry and Sligo), the closed period runs until 15 January meaning that spreading can take place from 16 January.

For the remaining counties, Donegal, Cavan, Monaghan and Leitrim (Zone C), the deadline runs until 31 January meaning that farmers can spread again from 1 February. NI farmers can spread from 1 February.
