Last week’s sale at Ulster Farmers Market Enniskillen saw another solid trade for all good-quality types.

Lightweight bullocks sold from £2.10/kg to £2.33/kg, while medium weights sold from £2.00/kg to £2.32/kg. In the heavyweight section, bullocks sold mainly from £1.85/kg to £2.20/kg.

In the heifer ring, forward heifers sold from £1.82/kg to £2.24/kg, with lighter types making the higher prices. Forward heifers sold to a top price of £2.02/kg which was paid for a top-quality 520kg Charolais.

The weanling trade was quite brisk, with best demand for top-quality types. Weanling bulls sold mainly from £620 to £900 per head, with heifers selling mainly from £500 to £790 for a 307kg Charolais.

Calves sold from £250 for a Belgian Blue heifer to £300 for a strong Angus bull, while Friesians made from £85 to £92/head. Cows with calves at foot sold from £1,010 to £1,400, while fat cows made from £1,085 for 790kg (£1.37/kg) to £1,125 for 750kg (£1.50/kg).
