Last Tuesday’s cattle sale at Ballymena Mart saw over 400 cattle on offer.
Bullocks from 300kg to 400kg sold mainly from £2.00/kg to £2.29/kg. Heavier steers from 400kg to 500kg sold mainly from £2.05/kg to £2.23/kg, with prices averaging at about £2.10/kg.
Forward store bullocks over 500kg sold mainly from £1.96/kg to £2.20/kg. Heifers from 300kg to 400kg sold from £1.81/kg to £2.11/kg, with those from 400kg to 500kg making from £1.85/kg to £2.10/kg.

There was solid demand for forward store heifers. Farmer and feeder demand saw prices range from £1.70/kg to £2.14/kg.
On last Monday evening, there were 4,000 sheep on offer. Mule ewe lambs sold from£105 to £132/head, while breeding ewes sold mainly from £138 to £200. Store lambs were met with firm farmer demand and sold mainly from £65 to £80.
Friday’s sale saw 45 dairy cows on offer. Prices ranged mainly from £1,000 to £1,420.
