I hear rumbles at Barryroe because the 1c Carbery milk bonus has been made conditional on trading with the co-op to the tune of 8c/l. This is similar to the conditions applying to the co-op’s own loyalty bonus. The move has been driven by the board, the Dealer hears. Management want the bonus to be paid to all and sundry, as is normally the approach of all four West Cork co-ops. The move has raised the eyebrows of some suppliers given that milk price fell sharply last year making the 8c hurdle that bit harder to clear.
