There was no wild variation on recent weanling trends. Those from 250kg to 310kg seem to be selling well, with prices generally ranging from €2.50/kg to €2.80/kg and some going above that. Bulls above 400kg were selling from €1.95/kg to €2.20/kg, with quality and weight a big price factor. Bulls from 310kg to 400kg ranged from €2.20/kg up to €2.50/kg.

  • Weanling heifers were less consistent than the bulls in terms of quality but, as one buyer commented, they were dear enough.

  • There were 172 bullocks on offer, with excellent prices available for U grade potential 2015-born animals. Plainer cattle were a tougher sell, but those with good weight for age were in demand.

  • Heifer numbers were relatively steady compared with recent weeks, with 66 on offer. Trade was similar to most southern marts in recent weeks.
