Store cattle of all weights with good conformation met a lively trade in Ballymena on Friday. A Limousin bullock weighing 344kg made £825 (£2.40/kg) and another Limousin bullock, this one weighing 284kg, made £780 (£2.75/kg). Two top-quality Charolais bullocks, weighing 298kg and 282kg, made £796 (£2.66/kg) and £780 (£2.77/kg) respectively.

Overall, however, the run of stock on show was of good quality, with uniform batches of good-quality Limousin bullocks making strong prices. Most of them were around 350kg and made over £400 along with their weight (£2.14/kg). Some heavier bullocks in the group, around 400kg, as well as some well-conformed bullocks, made from £820 to £850.

Plainer stores around 350kg made around £330 to £340 over their weight. Cattle under 300kg made £400 over their weight for the best stores and £300 for plainer sorts. Heifers were making slightly less compared with steers. A group of relatively plain Limousin heifers weighing between 270kg and 280kg made around £550-£560 (£2.00/kg).
