An incredible weekend for Irish Show Jumping continued when Co Down’s Conor Swail stormed to victory in the three-star Longines FEI World Cup qualifier at Thunderbird Show Park in Langley, British Columbia in Canada.

Riding the 12-year-old mare Flower, whom he owns along with Vanessa Mannix, Swail came out on top after a seven-horse jump-off. They crossed the line clear in 41.86 seconds, almost four seconds faster than Canadian runner-up Christopher Surbey (CAN) with Daylight VDL, while Jamie Barge (USA) and Luebbo finished third.

This latest win was the fourth international victory for Swail and Flower over the course of the last two weeks,

Victory in Valence

Shane Breen meanwhile, scored a win in last Sunday’s three-star Grand Prix at Valence in France with the Team Z7-owned stallion Laith. The result came after a runner-up finish for the same combination in a five-star Grand Prix at the same venue last weekend.

Missing FEI Bronze Award Pin

Leslie Fitztpatrick is among the number of Irish riders that was awarded an FEI Bronze Pin for his participation on Nations Cup teams for Ireland. As usual he proudly wore it during his visit to the Dublin Horse Show. But sadly at some point he lost it.

It is possible that the loss happened somewhere in Simmonscourt. Should a finder exist, Leslie can be contacted at 086 2558656.

New date for Clarecastle

Clarecastle Show, which had to be postponed due to rain, will take place on Sunday, 17 September.

The full programme of showing and jumping will be retained and will include the Ennis Municipal Council-sponsored ISA All-Ireland Colt Foal Championship with €2,500 on offer. There will also be a €2,000 broodmare class, and a young handler competition.
