Last month the dairy processor posted record sales of 3.5m pots of fresh cream alone sold. The week before Christmas saw the highest ever volume of cream dispatched by the company in a single day.

The high sales figures were attributed to increased consumer demand and the continuing economic recovery by Colin Gordon, CEO at Glanbia, which owns Avonmore. “As economic sentiment continues to improve, consumers are increasingly looking for quality products,” he said.

The selling period before Christmas is a vital time for businesses and dairy produce proved a huge seller. Avonmore, which has its headquarters in Kilkenny, experienced its highest ever volume of cream dispatched in a single week and a single month, representing a 24% increase year-on-year.

Milk sales were also positive – up an average of 10% year-on-year.
