Teagasc will be recruiting a panel at the Agri Careers Fair, from which Agricultural Development Officer vacancies will be filled. The panel will be used to fill permanent and temporary vacancies and will remain in place for two years.

Agricultural Development Officers deliver advisory, education and training services within Teagasc.

They are involved in the development of a client’s farm business by imparting technical and financial advice. They also offer help with sustainable resource management. College teachers and education officers deliver classes and practical workshops to students.

Forestry Advisor

Teagasc will also be looking to fill positions on a panel for Forestry Advisors. The panel will be used to fill permanent and temporary vacancies and will remain in place for two years. Candidates in this role will provide independent and objective advice and developmental back-up to forest owners and those considering forestry.

Research opportunities in Teagasc

Teagasc has an ongoing need to recruit staff in the four research areas of animal and grassland research and innovation; crops, environment and land use, food and rural economy, as well as rural economy and development.

Teagasc is always on the lookout for post-doctoral research candidates, research scientists and research technicians.

Teagasc also has two Masters programmes which it will be promoting at the fair. These are run in conjunction with UCD. Ten fellows are sought for the Masters in Agricultural Innovation Support, which is a 21 month programme and offers €21,000 per year to its fellows.

The Masters in Agricultural Extension & Innovation course also offers 10 fellowships worth €22,000 per person for each year and is 24 months long.
