I see that LacPatrick has appointed its new chair.

The co-op, formed in the merger between Town of Monaghan and Ballyrashane, held its AGM this week.

Newbliss, Co Monaghan, dairy farmer Andrew McConkey was elected chair. Given that the new LacPatrick board is made up of 10 farmers from Northern Ireland and five from the Republic, it’s quite the achievement that McConkey got the gig. He has the credentials. Prior to putting on the wellies, McConkey achieved a degree in accounting.

It’s the first time in 22 years that LacPatrick/Town of Monaghan has a new chair.

Hugo Maguire was chair of Town of Monaghan before the LacPatrick merger and recently retired after more than 20 years in the job.
