Farmer contributions account for over 96% of total income. Balance from savings and commercial deals.

What is the ultimate decision-making body in your organisation?

National council.

ICSA

What are the membership criteria for your organisation?

Anybody who has an involvement in farming in lreland.

How many paid-up members do you currently have?

10,000 on our database and occasional contributions from other farmers. ICSA is actively seeking new members.

Do you publish full accounts for your organisation?

The accounts are kept in accordance with best company standards and to the satisfaction of our auditors, BDO.

What income streams other than membership do you have?

Vast majority from membership but some sponsorship and advertising, as well as international consultancy fees on a once-off basis.

How many full-time staff members does your organisation employ?

Six full-time equivalents. These are paid a grand total of €200,000-€220,000 between them in salaries.

What is the total turnover of your organisation?

Less than €1m.

Who is responsible for governance issues within your organisation?

Board of directors, known as the management committee, responsible for all governance issues.

What is the ultimate decision-making body in your organisation?

Notional executive is supreme policymaking body and consists of 110 elected members.

Macra na Feirme

What are the membership criteria for your organisation?

To be an active member you must be aged 17 to 35.

Approximately 9,200 members.

Audited accounts are published and presented each May at national AGM.

What income streams other than membership do you have?

Government funding (Youth Services and Department of Agriculture grants), milk levies, associate and programme sponsorship.

How many full-time staff members does your organisation employ?

Sixteen full-time equivalents.

What is the total turnover of your organisation?

As per our 2015 audited accounts, our total income was €1,473,895 . Total expenditure was €1,469,418.

Who is responsible for governance issues within your organisation?

National council is the governing body and the running and management of the organisation is delegated to the chief executive who manages our professional staff cohort.

What is the ultimate decision-making body in your organisation?

National council, which representative from each county/region, is the governing body chaired by the national president. National council has a number of sub committees reporting to it.

Registered charity with a constitution and rules.

What, if any, umbrella organisations are you involved in?

CEJA (European Council of Young Farmers), Rural Youth Europe, The National Youth Council, The Wheel. Macra is also represented on several boards and committees in a number of organisations.

Irish Grain Growers’ Association

What are the membership criteria for your organisation?

Have an interest in Irish tillage farming.

How many paid-up members do you currently have?

200.

Do you publish full accounts for your organisation?

All accounts, statements and expenses will be made available to members.

What income streams other than membership do you have?

None at present.

How many full-time staff members does your organisation employ?

None. All members volunteer their time at present.

Less than €5,000.

Irish Farmers with Designated Land

What are the membership criteria for your organisation?

We are open to all farmers but the majority of our members are sheep and cattle farmers.

How many paid-up members do you currently have?

We currently have just over 5,500 members and it continues to grow.

Do you publish full accounts for your organisation?

As we are a new organisation we will be publishing our accounts at year’s end.

What income streams other than membership do you have?

None. At no point would we accept money collected by meat processors.

How many full-time staff members does your organisation employ?

One full-time with part-time staff.

What is the total turnover of your organisation?

Unable to say at present as we are presently finalising our accounts.

Who is responsible for governance issues within your organisation?

National council as a collective, who will then instruct the national chair.

What is the ultimate decision-making body in your organisation?

National council.

What is the legal status of your organisation?

Company limited by guarantee.

The SAC/SPA monitoring committee, Mayo Agriculture Working Group, the National CFRAM Stakeholder Group and we are presently working on a membership process with a number of other organisations.
