Back in 2009, Chris O'Dowd was playing Roy in The IT Crowd and filming Gulliver's Travels with Jack Black.

Described in the piece as "the next big thing", he has since gone on to star in films and TV shows such as Bridesmaids, Moone Boy and Girls.

Writer Maria Moynihan was "thoroughly smitten" with the Boyle man, who gave up his lunch break to chat to Irish Country Living. He describes 2009 as a "crazy" year - we wonder if he had any idea of what was in store?

"I go to Pinewood every day at the moment to do Gulliver's Travels, and on the way here's a 100 metre poster of The Boat That Rocked. And I'm like, 'Wow, things have changed a little bit.'"

He also told us how he started his career by auditioning for a place in the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

"I hadn't really even considered trying to make a career out of acting or anything, but I got in, and it was only one in 1,000 who got in, so I thought maybe I should give it a go."

It was a good thing he did!
