Un De Sceaux’s victorious comeback at Sandown and Apple’s Jade’s resounding return to form the following afternoon represent the obvious highlights from some top-class action last weekend.
Un De Sceaux produced a display to warm the heart, beating Sire de Grugy in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown last Saturday. The free going two-miler, who had the distinction of being Willie Mullins’ first runner in Britain this season, showed that he is once again going to be a major player at the head of his division with this contained display.
It was particularly pleasing to see him battle so well after a couple of errors at the last two fences. It is safe to assume that there will be much more to come from him following this outing and this electrifying performer has some big days ahead of him this winter.

On Sunday, the focus switched to Fairyhouse where all eyes were on Vroum Vroum Mag as she made her comeback in the Bar One Racing Hatton’s Grace Hurdle. This star mare had yet to meet with defeat since joining Mullins, but former stablemate Apple’s Jade recaptured her juvenile brilliance to win for Gordon Elliott.
