Base quotes of 60c/kg are being quoted for lowland wool throughout the country with the bulk of supply expected to hit around the second week of June. There are reports of 65c/kg being paid to larger suppliers, albeit few. White Scotch wool is being quoted between 30c/kg and 40c/kg. Merchants are yet to see any great volume of new-season wool come to the market. However, this is expected to change in the coming weeks. Merchants are again pointing to the lack of activity from Chinese buyers as the main cause for low prices. The next sale by the BWMB on 6 June is expected to give a better indication on summer prices.
