In this week’s machinery news, Simon Henley looked at the newest grass machinery at Grassland & Muck in the UK where there was a strong turnout of Irish manufacturers and visitors.

The announcement of AgriAgro UK as the new distributor for Landini and McCormick in Ireland means that the 26-year era of imports by D&S Machinery for the two brands is coming to an end.

In motoring, I drove the 4x4 Opel Mokka X for a week and found it to be a good solid performer on- and slightly off-road, with lots of techy bits.

On the vintage front this week, we looked at forgotten classics, the Leyland 262 and 272 Synchros.

Personally, the 272 holds special memories for me – some good, some bad – having had one on the home farm for many years.

In other news, plans for Crops and Cultivations are moving ahead at pace and the list of serious machines is growing on a daily basis. It is looking to be a great event on a lovely compact site.
