Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for counties Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.

Heavy rain or showers are forecast, with accumulations of 30mm to 50mm likely.

The highest totals will be on mountains. The warning is in place from 9am Sunday morning until 12pm on Monday afternoon.

Wind warning

Meanwhile, there is also a status yellow wind warning in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry.

According to Met Éireann, a developing low-pressure system in the Atlantic will track towards Ireland on Sunday, bringing a period of strong and gusty winds to all provinces.

Winds will be strongest in Atlantic coastal counties. Westerly winds are expected to reach mean speeds of 55km/h to 65km/h with gusts of 90 to 110km/h.

Winds will be strongest in exposed hilly and coastal areas with very high seas expected along the coast during this period.
