Total cheese consumption was up by 29 million pounds (13,182t) or 3% from the same month in the previous year. There was a significant increase of 3.6% in domestic consumption of US cheeses and 3.5% in non-US cheeses.

Consumption of butter was 6.8% higher than November 2014 at 204 million pounds (97,727t). This is only the second time that butter consumption has crossed 200 million pounds (90,909t). A 9% (17 million pounds or 7,727t) increase in domestic consumption outweighed the 57% drop in butter exports.

Non-fat dry milk (NFDM) consumption was reported at 150 million pounds (68,182t), similar to November 2014, which comprised a 1.2% decline in domestic combined with a 0.8% increase in exports.

Consumption of whey was up by 18% to 79 million pounds (35,909t) from the previous year. Domestic consumption of whey increased by 73%. This supported the double-digit increase in overall consumption.
