A large crowd including over 200 international delegates packed the ringside for the North East Limousin Club’s calf show.
In the second show to take place as part of the Limousin National Congress, Virginia was the host ground for the northeastern calf championships. The show attracted 40 of the best show calves in the region, all judged by Trevor Masterson, Co Wexford, over six classes split by age.
Calf championship
Claiming top spot in the calf championship in what can only be described as an exceptional day was Kevin Treanor, Scotstown, Co Monaghan, with Clontown Konkey.

This October 2015-born Ampertaine Foreman son is the first calf from a Sympa dam.
The young bull claimed reserve junior champion at Tullamore last week before being purchased by the commercial judge of the day who runs a successful Limousin herd in Scotland.
On his way to pick up the calf championship, he also secured the male calf champion title before being crowned overall male champion and eventually reserve overall champion of the show.
Overall show champion
Claiming overall champion of the show was Willie Smith, Oldcastle, Co Meath, with his two-year-old heifer Brookfield Florence.

Sired by Haltcliffe Dancer, she is out of the 2011 Balmoral junior champion Millbrook Florence who herself is a full sister to the three-time Balmoral champion Millbrook Ginger Spice.
Reserve female
Standing reserve overall in the calf championship and reserve female to the eventual overall champion was Michael Molloy with Mullary Lightning.

Sired by Plumtree Fantastic, this January-born heifer is out of Bremore Veneer.
This heifer had earlier won her class and also secured the female calf championship.
