Shalvey, who is part of the RTÉ's Big Week on The Farm, reversed from Lisgrey House in Virginia to Poles Co-op, on the Dubin road out of Cavan town – a massive 20km.

The previous record was held by Kerry native Eamonn Hickson. He reversed from Dingle to Annascaul, a total of 17.5km, back in 2014

Speaking to Northern Sound radio after the attempt, Shalvey said he is hopeful of breaking the world record.

“It seemed to go very well but it can’t be verified until next week … by Guinness. It seemed to go very well, we had no stops on it. We didn’t have to stop and go forward at any point. I’m happy enough that it was done … it was 20.1km I was told. I’m very happy that it’s done,” he said

Shalvey kissed the tractor after the attempt. The Cavan way!
