Watch: Scott retains shearing title in impressive fashion
Donegal man Ivan Scott was in flying form at the Kepak All-Ireland and All-Nations Sheep shearing Championships in Saturday’s competitions in Kiltoom, Co Roscommon.
Ivan Scott has another title to add to an increasing portfolio of shearing achievements. The Donegal man retained the All-Ireland Shearing Open in impressive fashion on Saturday in the Kepak All-Ireland and All-Nations Shearing Championships in Kiltoom, Co Roscommon. Scott sheared his 20 hoggets in an impressive time of 17 minutes and 52 seconds in the final, sponsored by Husdon Bay Water Sports.
Quality trumps speed
The final was a fine spectacle that saw Scott rekindle his rivalry with Derry man Jack Robinson, who has pushed Scott close and got the better of him on occasions in recent years. Robinson finished just seconds behind Roy Collier in terms of actual shearing time, but once again the quality of his shearing carried him through to second place.
Ian Montgomery also proved that it is important to combine speed with quality in claiming third position and pushing Collier into fourth. Robert Davidson finished fifth, while Stanley Allingham finished sixth.
All-Nations
Scott will have to be on top form this Sunday when a host of shearers from Britain and further afield come into town for the All-Nations competitions.
