Ireland's dairy and beef products were on full display yesterday (Sunday) when Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited a farm in Co Mayo with An Taoiseach Enda Kenny and Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney.

The Chinese premier was in Ireland to agree on the formation of a joint committee to ensure greater agricultural co-operation between Ireland and China. The Joint Committee on Agricultural Cooperation (JCAC), as it is called, aims to strengthen agricultural trading ties between the two countries. The Chinese premier also signed a visa waiver agreement which exempts holders of diplomatic passports in both countries from visa requirements for visits of up to 90 days to the other country.

Before signing the agreements following talks in Ashford Castle on Sunday evening, Li Keqiang visited a beef and dairy farm in Co Mayo, where, despite the rain, there were smiles on everybody's faces.
