A nationwide status yellow rainfall warning was issued by Met Éireann on Wednesday, with heavy showers or longer spells of rain to affect the country.

Met Éireann has also said that there will be a high risk of thunder and localised flooding.

This will bring rainfall accumulations of 20 to 35mm to many areas, according to Met Éireann.

This warning is valid until 9pm on Wednesday.

Orange warning
