Weather warnings in place as storm Henry approaches
Met Eireann has sent out three weather warnings as storm Henry moves eastwards from the Atlantic, hitting Irish shores on Monday, bringing exceptional wave heights and high wind speeds.
Met Eireann has put an orange wind warning in place for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick until late on Monday night. Storm Henry will bring southwest to west winds with mean speeds between 65 and 80 km/h with gusts between 110 and 130 km/h during Sunday night and through Monday. Winds will peak during Monday afternoon and evening and will be at their strongest along the coasts.
Meanwhile a status yellow wind warning is in effect for Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford. Southwest to west winds will reach mean speeds between 45 and 65 km/h with gusts between 90 and 110 km/h during Sunday night and through Monday.
Met Eireann has issued a weather advisory for coastal counties including Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork and Kerry. Exceptional wave heights, possibly reaching 12 to 15 meters, during Monday along Atlantic coasts.
