The week will start with rain and heavy showers on Monday, with a possible risk of thunder in places. This heavy rain will ease as the day goes on and there may be some patches of sunshine and a fresh breeze in places. Northern parts of the country will have the lowest temperatures of 13°C to 15°C; meanwhile, these amounts will be slightly higher in the south with averages between 17°C and 19°C. Monday night will be mostly dry with a fresh north-westerly breeze, which will ease as the night goes on. Lowest temperatures will range from 7°C to 10°C.
Tuesday morning will start bright, with some cloud and sunshine in places, with a chance of showers in the north. Temperatures for the day will range from 14°C to 19°C, with southern counties getting the best of the weather. Tuesday night will be mostly dry and clear with a possibility of fog and mist in places, along with some patches of drizzle on the northwest coast. Lowest temperatures will be between 6°C and 10°C.
It will be breezy, but mostly clear and dry on Wednesday for Leinster and Munster, with some intervals of sunshine and temperatures between 18°C and 19°C. Ulster and Connacht will experience some rain and mist in the evening, with temperatures of 15°C to 16°C. Wednesday night will be mostly humid, with rain and fog expected in some areas, temperatures will vary from 11°C to 14°C.
This humid and close weather is expected to follow on into Thursday. The day will be a mix of wet and dry spells, with sunshine appearing as the day goes on. Highest temperatures will range from 16°C to 20°C.
Heavy rain is expected on Friday, along with the humid temperatures seen the day before.
Rain
Last week’s wet weather led to rainfall totals being twice as high as normal for this time of year. With more rain and showers expected for this week, levels for Munster and Leinster are expected to be average, with higher amounts expected in the north and west of the country.
Temperatures
Last week’s cool and mild temperatures will continue into this week, getting slightly more humid as the week goes on. Highest temperatures are expected on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Sunshine
Similar to last week, sunshine levels will be below average again. Sunny spells are expected for the week ahead, mostly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, but will also be accompanied with cloudy and dull conditions.
Drying conditions
As rain and showers are planned for the coming week, drying conditions will be moderate to average, but will be boosted by the humid and close weather due to arrive as the end of the week.
Spraying
The best days for spraying will be Tuesday and early on Wednesday, in between dry spells. However, the rest of the week will be unsuitable for spraying due to wet and showery weather.
Field conditions
With the recent wet weather, soil moisture deficits have been low in most parts of the country, with the exception of the south. These levels will remain the same for this coming week again, in line with the wet weather expected.
