The board of Aurivo co-op has set its March milk price at 30.62c/l excluding VAT. The price includes an unconditional early calving of 1.4c/l, which is slightly lower than the 1.5c/l bonus applied in February. Aurivo’s base price remains unchanged.

Dairygold also decided on Tuesday to keep its base milk price unchanged. The co-op's March milk price is set at 29.77c/l excluding VAT. This includes a 0.5c/l quality bonus.

Arrabawn, too, is holding its March price at 30.12c/l excluding VAT.

Meanwhile, the boards of Barryroe, Drinagh and Lisavaird co-ops met on Tuesday night and aligned themselves with the Carbery group’s decision to hold the March milk price. The three west Cork co-ops remain on 30.73c/l excluding VAT.

At the meeting, Drinagh's board approved 2016 bonuses of 0.25c/l on milk, €10/t on ruminant feed and €7.50/t on fertiliser.

All co-ops that have set their March milk price so far have kept it unchanged.

Dairy commodity prices have plateaued in recent weeks, with the Global Dairy Trade (GDT) index gaining 3.1% on Tuesday and Ornua’s latest PPI index showing no significant change.
