The property, which is just a few miles from the Longford border, came to the market with a derelict two-storey farmhouse, a range of traditional farm buildings and extensive road frontage. Ballynameagh is the type of property that with some management, could be transformed into a fine productive grazing unit.

Bidding opened at €800,000 and with just two interested parties in contention, the sale price moved in €20,000 and €30,000 bids to €960,000. At this staged, the momentum became a little more sedated and the bidding progressed in €10,000 increments to €1 million. Falling short of the €1.2 million guide price, the property was withdrawn in its entirety at €1 million. It’s understood there has been some fresh interest since the auction but negotiations are still on-going.
