Some 28 cattle are up for sale, comprising nine bulls, 12 heifers and three cows with calf at foot.
Aubrac society chair James Donnellan told the Irish Farmers Journal the sale offered a broad mix on the female side, from cows with calf at foot to maiden and in-calf heifers. “The breed is getting more popular and this is a good opportunity start or expand a suckler or pedigree herd,” he said.
Donnellan added that there would be also be a good choice for people interested in buying a stock bull. "We have more bulls at this sale than we have had at the last three sales," he said. While these are mostly young bulls, the society is aiming to expand on this again in the future with more mature bulls fit for a full herd of cows.

One aspect of this year's sale is that most cattle are now genotyped, as indicated by the blue DNA logo in the sale catalogue. Donnellan said an increasing number of buyers had made enquiries about this in advance of the sale.
