It is expected that west to northwest winds will reach speeds of 65 to 75 km/hr in coastal areas, with gusts of 90 to 110 km/hr. The warning is in place until tonight.

Another warning is in place for Cavan and Monaghan, with snow showers with accumulations of 2 or 3 cm forecast tonight.

Tonight

Rain and sleet will move across the country from the northwest. High areas of Ulster and Leinster are at risk of snow, with temperatures dropping to zero.

Tomorrow

Friday will be cold and breezy with showers of rain and hai. Sleet will form on high ground.

Wind and snow warning issued by Met Éireann

An orange wind warning has been issued for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo and Clare.
