Wins for Kilkenny City and Togher Macra at the NDC soccer finals
Kilkenny City women’s team and Togher Macra men’s team from Louth were the big winners at the National Dairy Council indoor soccer finals in Gormanstown College in Meath last Sunday.

Kilkenny City women’s team and Togher Macra men’s team from Louth were the big winners at the National Dairy Council indoor soccer finals in Gormanstown College in Meath last Sunday.
Kilkenny City held off the challenge from Awbeg Macra, Avondhu, in the women’s final and Togher Macra edged out Lough Egish/Carrickatee in the men’s soccer final.
Speaking after the games, Macra na Feirme national president Seán Finan said: “Well done to all the teams that took part in our NDC indoor soccer All-Ireland final. It was another fantastic competition that showed the enthusiasm and athletic skill of our Macra clubs. Special thanks to the National Dairy Council for their continued support of this extremely popular competition.’’

Awards in public
speaking for Awbeg
and Knockraha Macra
All-Ireland titles went to Avondhu and Seandun in Cork as Awbeg and Knockraha claimed the top prizes in the Macra na Feirme public speaking and impromptu public speaking finals at the Tullamore Court Hotel last Saturday. Siobhan Kelleher was the impromptu winner for Knockraha.
Josephine O’Neill was runner-up for Callan Macra, while Bree Macra from Wexford were runners-up in the public speaking competition.
Macra national president Seán Finan congratulated all participants. He said: ‘‘It was a very entertaining competition and again proves the opportunities within Macra for members to develop their debating and speaking skills, which will stand to them in their future professional and personal lives.’’
